Pictured winning his first US Major
towards his American Championship. Presented by breeder/handler Heidi Gervais.
Rebel was my second heart dog. Within three hours of picking him up from Valerie Gervais, his breeder, he was my shadow. No matter where I went or what I was doing he had to be there. Rebel grew evenly and was always very masculine in appearance.
Rebel received his Canadian Championship at the age of 10 1/2 months. From there he went on to learn about Tracking and Obedience. He obtained his Tracking Titles in Canada with ease, and earned his American TD in just three months. We needed to work a little on his CD because he had trouble understanding that the sits and downs had to be done across the room from me, whereas, all the other exercises except the recall (which is his favourite) were done with him at my side. Rebel received his American Championship with limited showing (and with Heidi Gervais at the other end of the leash) at the Multnomah Irish Setter specialty where he took Winners Dog for a 4 point major at just over 4 years of age.
Rebel was the sire of BIS winners including Am. Can. Ch. Kulana To Infinity and Beyond who was Top Irish Setter in Canada. He has the distinction of being the sire of two American Dual Champions: Am. Dual Champion & Can. Ch. Kulana X Quizit Bright Star JH (the 20th AKC Dual Champion in the history of the breed) and Am. Dual Champion & Can. Ch. Highfeather Raise 'N A Ruckus FDX CD Am MH CD VCX (the 21st AKC Dual Champion in the history of the breed). The dual championship is the awarded title when a dog completes both a conformation AKC championship and an AKC field championship. The dual championship is a highly coveted title in the breed. To date, Rebel is the only Irish Setter in the history of the breed to sire two dual champions. Well done Rebel!
