So, you have seen this gorgeous hunk of a man, and crave a personalized picture of him? But..how do you go about doing this? Well, I have gone through the process, and will now reveal to you my secrets.
First, you need a picture of Billy. I'm not sure about sending whole magazines, but you could take out a page you want and send that in. Any picture should be sufficient; it doesn't have to be one of those fancy 8x10 glossies.
You also need to get some mailing envelopes, at least 2 for each picture. The envelopes are 9x12 clasp ones. One of your envelopes will be SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope). Meaning..put your address as the address to whom the envelope is to be sent, and put the proper amount of postage in the upper right corner of the envelope. If you're not sure how much postage to put, you can go to your local post office and ask them. On the other envelope, put your address in the sender's place (upper left), and put Billy's address as the destination (kinda in the middle). Again, you need proper postage on this envelope.
A nice letter is the next step. Try to keep your letter around a page. I'm sure Billy is a very busy man, so he doesn't have time to read such in-depth letters. Keep it kinda brief and simple. In your letter, mention what you like about him, or what caught your eye about him. Do put your return address and phone number in the upper left of the page (or letterhead). You never know, he may just call you! I'm not sure about Billy, but according to my dad, it has happened.
Finally, fold your SASE in half, and stick it in your envelope addressed to Billy. Then put in your picture and your letter. It's ready to send!
Or..if you don't have a picture of Billy, and just want to write a letter to him asking for an autographed picture, it's much like the above steps. Except you only need regular, letter envelopes (#10 business-sized). One will be SASE, and the other addressed to Billy. Write your letter, and of course you should be polite in asking for a picture! Fold the SASE in thirds, put that and your letter in the other envelope.
If you really, really want a genuine autographed picture of Billy, you should send your own photo. Because if you just send a letter, you may be sent a "stock" picture or "pre-print." These are postcard-sized pictures with reproduced signatures, or photos with signatures on the negative (a copy of the signed photo). But too, sending only a letter has produced results!
Another thing..it may take MONTHS for your picture to come (back). I mean, yeah, it seems pretty simple to just take a minute to sign a picture. But there are tons of fans out there, and he may get thousands of these requests! So just be patient..Billy's autograph is definitely worth waiting for..trust me :).
