Rice County EMS is proud to have the 2003 Educator of the Year.  The following information was read on August 9, 2003 in Wichita, at which time Heather Frank was presented her award.  Please see below for article and pictures.
KEMSA 2003 Educator of the Year
Our Educator of the Year is a person who has stepped up to the plate in her service to make educational opportunities available and meaningful for her service area.
She became an EMT in 1991 and completed MICT training in 1998.  Additionally, she possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Sterling College.  Following her education, she began to pursue her desire to help others learn and completed both TO 1 and TO 2 training.
Our award recipient has gone above and beyond to help teach technicians in her service.   She has made training interesting and meaningful.  She comes prepared on the topic and when she is asked questions she does not know, she does her research and follows up.
In addition to teaching in-service classes, she has been the driving force behind first responder classes in her service area.  She has invested great amounts of time and energy to ensure that these students are well taught and prepared to gain certification.  She is quietly in possession of a 100% pass rate.
Additionally, she is involved in community education, ACLS instruction and the quality assurance processes in her service.  She has shown a capacity to audit calls in a proper and meaningful manner without endangering or damaging the relationships that are inherent to a small service.
KEMSA is pleased to present the 2003 Educator of the Year award to Heather Frank of Rice County EMS.
