The Rice String Quartet is directed by violist Hana Morford and contains a core group of 6 other musicians who rotate as violinists and cellists.  All members of the quartet are graduate students at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, TX and are experienced chamber and wedding/party musicians.  Biographies of some members can be found below.
Hana Morford
In high school, Hana was a student of Rebecca Henry in the Arts for Talented Youth program at the Peabody Preparatory.  She graduated this spring with honors from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey Irvine and Lynne Ramsey.  While attending CIM, she served as both Principal and Assistant Principal of the CIM Orchestra, and participated in the Cavani Quartet’s Intensive String Quartet Seminar.  Ms. Morford also managed and played in the Mousai String Quartet (www.oocities.org/mousaiquartet) while living in Cleveland.  Hana has soloed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra as the winner of their 2001 Young Soloist Competition.  She has also performed in masterclasses for musicians including Karen Ritscher, Victoria Chiang, Csaba Erdélyi, Alan de Veritch, Bobby McFerrin, and members of the Juilliard, American, and Emerson String Quartets.  Hana has attended music festivals such as Kneisel Hall, Sarasota Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, ENCORE School for Strings, and Indiana University String Academy.  She is currently pursuing her Masters degree at Rice University under the tutelage of James Dunham.
