The Story of Send Angels
Send Angels was a request by a record company
producer who wanted to hear more instrumental music. The recordings were done
between 1995 and 1999. Before that time I had written over one hundred
instrumental and picked about twenty to record. I sent them to the producer who
then sent them to other record companies. Carefree Records out of Arizona signed
the project as a music manager and was looking to sign deals with instrumental
recording companies around the world. Are two biggest companies were Narada™
and Windamhill™. Both had a decrease in sales that year and had a freeze on
signing artist. Numerous foreign labels wanted to sign the project and we
decided to decline there offers and stick with a home base record company.
Damage Records took the bill.
I wanted the recording to be in digital quality,
from the mixer to the post production. When the project was done we decided on
13 songs to put on the album. They are listed below. Since then Send Angels has
been the largest selling CD to date with over 1000 units sold world wide and
over 700 downloads on over 50 download sites. Send Angels is also aired on
Public Radio stations throughout the world. Send Angels signed with music oven™
to provide music to all restaurants and clubs. The song "Spanish Fire"
has been played over 900 times on music oven.
After Send Angels, Carefree Records wanted me to
work on a different approach, they asked for a more new age style CD. they loved
the guitar work and liked everything about Send Angels, this giving birth to the
second CD, Moon Dance. More information on Moon
Dance click here.
Order Information Below
This instrumental album features both Jazz, New Age, and
Blues styles, It was actually a collaboration of two albums from before.
The beautiful rose: A melodic song with an acoustic
guitar and a classical guitar, both being mixed with condenser microphones. The
guitar movements is the same movement in "So This is Love". Slight
keyboard in the back ground. The classical guitar that carries the melody and
Talia's voice has the RSS sound effect on them. Through normal speakers they
will create a surround sound effect. It doesn't show up as much on the guitar
but on Talia is will circle the room if your speakers are set up right. Richard
Falcon; Ibanez Acoustic Guitar, Ibanez Classical Guitar, Yamaha Keyboard.
And the beautiful rose bloomed today, and the cold winds
came and destroyed her soul, she said, 'how could he have been so cruel,' and
her beauty did not shine anymore, and I cry to you a rain to wash a way your
pain, the tears of love will give you thorns and no one will take your beauty
again. (p) 2000 WWM by Richard Falcon, Damage Records.
So this is love, Great guitar movements. acoustic guitar
starts it off then the electrics with orchestra sets the movement. this song
uses a lot of distortion and classical type movements. Strings and guitar move
together then the guitar breaks off. This is my favorite song to play. at the
end the electric guitar is moving through the Mixolydian scale very fast. Richard
Falcon; Electric guitars, Bass Guitar, Drums, Bongos,
Keyboards, String, violin. arrangements, violin.
Friends Forever, This song is great because of the
different moving melodies. the piano takes one part, the guitar and the bass
does an appregio which fits nicely with the piano movement. this song then picks
up and move into screaming blues at the end. Richard
Falcon; Electric guitars, Bass guitars, Keyboards, string arrangement.
The Moonlight, so many of my fans have said that if you
could rate instrumentals, that this song would be rated R. It has passion, and
seduction. Some have said that it feel as if a man and a woman are running
through the woods. This song has a Beethoven type piano in the back ground, I
tried to get the dirtiest guitar sound I could find. Richard
Falcon; Vibraphone, Piano, Electric guitars, bass, strings.
Spanish Fire, Spanish guitar open the song with a minor background.
This song uses a string bass which was my main instrument in college. Trumpet
solo by yours truly, this song is the most played on airways. Richard
Falcon; Ibanez Classical Guitar, Roland Gr 33, Trumpet, Horn arrangement,
percussions, string bass, bass, Electric Guitars.
Anywhere with you, This song would be a great example of the modal
system. it starts out in Phrygian mode then moves to Mixolydian, during the
chorus parts it is in Ionian and Dorian. Each mode gives the melody a different
feel. Set up with guitars, bass and percussions, not a lot of stuff in this one
but a great melody. Richard Falcon; Percussions,
bass, acoustic guitars.
Where lover's meet, There was two versions of this song. One had
a new age string feel and this one that I picked has a guitar that helps the
melody. I love the piano and guitar together. I also liked the delayed high hat
at the beginning. Richard Falcon; Guitar,
Percussions, Keyboards, bass, string arrangements.
The song Send Angels is actually dedicated to my mother
and I, who had to put up with my crazy youth. Send Angels is the song that
catches everyone's ear. The record companies loved this one. It has both the
piano and classical guitar melodies. the drums are a actual drum kit that I
recorded, looped then put through a techno effect to give it a techno feel.
There is a lot of production that goes into these songs. This is one of
them. The background strings uses a Roland Space Chorus, the same that Mr.
Zimmerman uses when he masters the strings for the Disney™ soundtracks. Richard
Falcon; Ibanez Classical guitar, Paino, Drum program. Bass, String
arrangement.
Kchachurine Princess I believe that this is the most
inventive instrumentals I have ever made up. The music carries a story of a
Princess that has been kidnapped and saved by a hero. Trumpets start out in a
arpeggio movement in G, then I put in a guitar that has a Metalica type
movement. Solo's in the beginning by trumpet and slide trombone. Voices are done
by my wife, Amy, with the help of Talia and Tadyn. Tadyn was really little at
the time so all he could say was "oh". I do the voice for
"someone has kidnapped the princess"! I love the slide bass at this
part with the moving strings. then the electric guitar takes over created a
totally different move, this part of the song is the rescue. I changed different
basses from slide to slap. Guitars also change from distorted to acoustic to
clean electric. The jazzy part is the ending which then translates into the
beginning. Richard Falcon; Trumpet, Slide
trombone, Guitars, String arrangement, percussions, bass, slide bass, keyboards.
Storm in the morning, This was one of the first songs I
recorded and didn't think that it would make it on the CD. Me as the weather
man, the rest is samples. Song was set up using a Pentatonic scale melody. The
bass and piano parts playing in unison was no easy task. At the end is the
harmonized guitar effect on the electric guitar. Richard
Falcon; Radio voice, Guitars, bass, percussion, keyboards,
Jessica's Tango This song was named after my cousin,
Jessica. She was one of the first person to hear it and really liked it so I
named it after her. I received a lot of praise about this song. It was my first
attempt to do a pure Latin style song. Fast moving guitars. Some of the
percussion are pre-sampled, Some percussions I sample my self and loop, however,
I also have a library of other people's samples. So percussion are layer upon
layer of sounds. Richard Falcon; All percussions,
sampled percussions. Classical guitar. Gibson Classical guitar, bass guitar,
Accordion.
A Girl Named Blue, Welcome to the blues. I love the blues
and love to play blue songs. This is a 12 bar blues song that has a ton of
solos. My first time recording a harmonica. This song starts out using a fender
with the original Crybaby® wah pedal! The problem I have with older effects is
sometimes live you pick up radio stations, I only used it in this song and now I
store it just to say I have an original. This song uses a lot of different
guitars and different amp set ups. I have the VGA 7 guitar amp that will let me
simulate any guitar amp ever made! Slap upright was a challenge to record.
trumpet layered with slide trombone all playing melodically. Richard
Falcon; All guitars, all keyboards, drums, upright bass, trumpet arrangements,
Harmonica, Voices, all solos.
Hidden song. This is about two to three
minutes after "A girl named blue". Guitar harmonics with keyboard and
xylophone. Bass Drum comes in later with an acoustic guitar playing a chord. Richard
Falcon; Electric Guitar, Keyboard, xylophone, drum, and acoustic guitar.
For all of you that have supported me through the years. I want
to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love to write and play my music. The
success of this album would have never been possible without all of your
support. I will always continue to write in hopes that you will enjoy the music.
