This stage I needed to insulate and dry wall the outer wall which would serve as the first (or final, depending on how you look at it) barrier to sound transmission. 2 layers of 1/2 inch dry wall were laminated together and suspended on resilient channel. In effect the walls are sepparated from each other and free to move independant of one another, thus absorbing sound energy instead of passing it on to the structure of the house

The second wall is placed 2 inches from the first, and framed with metal studs
First two layers of drywall mounted and sealed with acoustic sealant
