Various different demo versions have been recorded and a band version from January 1999 was officially released on the Eitzel Superhits International demos CD.
Since the reformation of American Music Club in 2003 it has been re-recorded again by AMC and is available on the vinyl version of "Love Songs For Patriots." It was played live by them a couple of times at the residency at Spaceland in Los Angeles in December 2003.
Jesus told me to leave gravity behind
And to burn the stars out of my eyes
And to disolve in the asphalt and white lines
And give them nothing they can turn into a lie

Jesus said there was no home I was welcome into
Just sad lonely places where I'll pay and pay
Jesus gave me the tired commercials
So that all my hopes and dreams would wash away

Drive a 1000 miles
Drive another 1000 miles
Cos you have no other home

Jesus gave me a spoonful of sugar
And a million saints who pray and pray
For a silence that rings like a hammer
For the likes of you and me to go away

And he said drive a 1000 miles
Drive another 1000 miles
Cos you have no other home

Jesus said leave gravity behind
And he said burn the stars out of my eyes
And he said issolve in the asphalt and white lines
And give them nothing they can turn into a lie
