Always Turn Away

Written in 1994 and recorded in the fall of 1995 for the "60 Watt Silver Lining" album. It was only performed live at a couple of US radio sessions in April 1996.
There are pools across the tidal plain
That look like white sheets draped across The vacuum beyond our conversation
The thread of our lives unravelling

Always turn away
Always face away

The tide makes all our decisions for us
Like the breath from a pearl accordian
The water softly inches for your eyes
Kisses the soft skin under your disguise

Always turn away
Always face away

Under the sun we flood across the shallows
And lay gleaming like liquid pearls
The wind and light gives us up like hands
Gives up to any justice that'll have us

Always turn away
Always face away
