John Richter Home Page

Hi, I'm John and this is my first time! I've had many ideas for various web pages but for now I will just give a brief account of my hobbies and give you some of my favourite links.

I am 36, partner Janie, and we have 5 kids from 10 down to 18m. I am keen on genealogy, martial arts, dogs (especially German Shepherds). We live with 2 German Shepherds and a mongrel. Whe I bought Anja it was with the intention of turning her into a Schutzhund champion ! However her total lack of obedience and inability to jump soon showed itself and I gave up all those hopes.

My father is of German descent and as such a lot of my research comes from Germany. The areas I am particularly intersted in are Brandenburg an der Havel & Berlin. However I have also traced ancestors to what is now Poland. My mothers side came from Liverpool or so we thought. The various family lines have now spread out to Cumbria, Ireland and Scotland.

Another one of my interests is martial arts. I find it very difficult to pursue this hobby as my working patterns do not allow attendance at a regular event. However it remains of great interst to me and I have made contact with several people 'in the know'. Geoff Thompson is something of a mentor for me and I feel he deserves a page to himself!
