More photos

A section of the 290 highway headed towards Fredericksburg, Texas.  Can't see them in this photo, but there are all sorts of little wildflowers along the side of the road. Mostly yellow and blue and very pretty.
Typical building along the main street of Fredericksburg, Texas.

Lots of antique stores and shops -- lots of people there too (weekend, you know), but I mostly take unpopulated photos.

The Alamo.  Actually, the facade was altered about 10 years after the battle and they later added a roof.

At the time of the battle the church had been unfinished, fortified and then abandoned.

A section of the "Long Barracks" at the Alamo.  Actually rebuilt from the rubble of the Long Barracks a few years after the battle. David Crockett - the memorial in front of the Alamo.  This memorial is to honor all of the defenders of the Alamo, including Crockett, James Bowie, James Bonham, and William Travis.
Nice to finally have some shade.  This is PeeWee at the San Antonio (Alamo) KOA. More shade was to be found at River Walk along the San Antonio River.  The walk snakes around below street level right in the middle of downtown.  Great place to be in the heat of the day.
Cow Parade!!

At the "Cow Hospital" in point of fact ... but it does look like a parade, doesn't it??

Here comes the Spider Cow.
One of my personal favorites.  I call it the Mooona Lisa.  It may actually have another name; there wasn't all that much information at the Cow Hospital, just the bovine artwork.

This space for  rent.
