XRB SR Blade Laminating
Pictorial guide to laminating the XRB foam blades. Laminating the blades increases their strength and ability to absorb shock without shredding
Tools needed are scissors a razor knife and of course the laminating material. In this case 3M Extreme strapping tape. I chose Extreme strapping for it's strengh and longevity Begin by tearing off a peice of tape a bit longer than the foam blade. Try to keep it even with the widest point on the bottom side and make sure it's edge is parallel to the leading edge of the blade
Now carefully roll the leading edge over onto the tape and make sure you get the tape smooth as you roll As you can see the top does'nt get totally covered by the tape, but that's alright the important side is the bottom. Smooth out wrinkles
Using your scissors or a sharp razor knike ,trim the excess tape. I found that the scissors worked a little better as it sealed the cut as you trimmed and it was easy to keep the edge straight
You will have to use your razor here to trim away the excess tape over the blade hub. I have left it on a couple times but it makes the bladesa little tight and you really need the blades to move easily
Walaa, A finished blade. Now do this three more times and you are ready to balance and mount the blades. Be sure to check tracking after they've been installed. You will instantly reap the reward from your hard work the first time you nick an object ,you'll notice the blades are still intact. You may experience a slightly more responsive heli after laminating the blades which I feel it needs.
Another mod to the blades is done after they've laminated. It's done to give them a little more swing. This helps to keep the blades from being broken as it lets them more rearward more at a strike
