Aurora Borealis - 11/05/01

Here are some astrophotographs I took from my backyard on Monday night. I used a Pentax K-1000 with a 28mm lens set at f2.8, and exposure times of between 15 seconds and a minute. All the pictures were taken in downtown Toronto, four blocks from the Davisville subway station. I used Kodak Royal Gold 400 print film, processed and scanned onto a picture CD at a local Kodak Imagecheck shop. You can see I haven't been extremely careful about keeping the camera innards and lenses dust free, but I'm still a bit new at this. There's been a bit of tweaking with brightness and contrast in Photoshop, but not too much - Adobe doesn't expect you to want pictures that are mostly black.
