Leonid Meteor Storm - 11/18/01

I observed the great storm at a picnic stop on Highway ***.  I observed between 3 and 6 AM, alone.  I took a series of about thirty five-minute exposures on Kodak Portra 800 colour print film at f2.8, 28mm view.  View these images however you like, but please ask if you want to use them in a big way.  I have the negatives.

I caught about a dozen meteors on film - here are some of the highlights.

Orion Big Dipper
Taurus
Leo

I had a clear view of 60 or 70% of the sky.  I had driven a long way to get out from under fog that covered Southern Ontario.  The fog intruded on my viewing after about 5 AM, but I could still see bright stars and meteors through it.

Here's a link to an Excel graph (viewed as a web page) of my observed meteor rates between 0950 and 1030 UTC (4:50 AM and 5:30 AM EST).  I estimate I observed close to 500 meteors in three hours.
