Occupying a total land area of 10.77 sq. km. And a population of around 250,000, Navotas has one of the highest population densities in the country. Navotas partly covers the Dagat Dagatan Resettlement Area projects in the metropolis. It has one of the biggest fishing ports in the Philippines and its main industry is fishing, inclusive of other allied and supportive industries such as shipbuilding and repair industry. The idea of extending Rotary in the eastern part of Northbay, Navotas was conceived by the Rotary Club of Northbay, one of the three clubs in the area. These three clubs shared a common area of responsibility, when then DG Fil Mendoza made the Rotary movement within the community in pursuance of sharing the opportunity to serve with men of goodwill to keep Rotary growing. On June 6, 1986, the Rotary Club of Northbay East received its acceptance from Rotary International with twenty-four (24) charter members. It was the culmination of more than a year of struggle and hard work a triumph of persistence and dedication and a victory for service in the community. From the time of our organization, we have grown in numbers to active members composed of young businessmen and professionals in different fields. We have developed a very strong fellowship relations and have given and conducted numerous humanitarian projects to help alleviate the living condition of the less fortunate people of the community. Our club members meet regularly every Thursday at 7:30 P.M. at the NB-NBE Rotary Clubs Foundation Bldg., Navotas, Metro Manila. It is a community center that was constructed with the help and initiative of the two (2) Rotary clubs-friends, and numerous Rotary Clubs from Japan through the World Community Service Project. It is used as one of the Municipal Health Centers; a venue for livelihood training, highspeed sewing training and other community related projects and services.
