I decided to jump the bayou, still in 87's neighborhood, and display a little different architecture than that on the previous page. This is the New Mount Herman Baptist Church. The design is pretty much universal for these country churches. |
The trees are very old, as are the graveyards. What can you say about them. These cemeteries are a part of the fabric of the community. The graves are not hidden in the ground. They are there. And, they make easy reading without having to kneel down. I enjoy reading the passages on the graves. But they are too short. Mine's going to have writing all over it. And a guest book. Don't expect any answers. I'll be retired. |
This graveyard is right next to the boat launch in Baldwin. |
The stuff that has gone on under the limbs of these trees I,m sure is awing. As awing as they are. Maybe. |
This graveyard, I think, is associated with Mt. Herman, about a quarter mile up Irish Bend Rd. It was down a two rut path. The chances I take for you folks. No, they're my chances. |
Spanish Moss, the ghost of the bayous. |
Now that I've mentioned Baldwin, let's go ahead and look at the Baldwin Page. Remember, this thing is just being put together, but I don't care if you see my mess. Let's look at the few pictures I have of Baldwin. |
