From the house on the water I continued on along the shore. Let's call it Lakeshore Dr. Along the shoreline there were many boardwalks jutting out into the lake. The map is marked with the picture locations. |

Here's the welcome sign to the park. Notice the duck in the upper left portion. Seems to be a common theme here abouts. The park is worth coming down from Jennings as you rumble down Interstate 10 (please don't do that, any other road, not 10). You would take La. 26 south. It's a short ride and well worth it as you will see. |
The Mother of All Boardwalks takes off from the park and goes out to a large platform, if I remember from a previous trip. It is long and I didn't feel the need to redo it. I think the platform is used for bands, firework displays and anything neat that could be done out there. I guess. Again, good park. And free. |
1 was the house on the last page. |

Feature picture of the whole thang . Don't look at that power line. 4 on the map. This was across from a neighborhood house. Do these guys have a view! |
I made the block and headed back to main street. (5). I guess things really started taking shape around here in the early 1900's, as seen by the L.A. Knights of Columbus hall, 1914. |
It's Saturday morning, 10:30. I was wondering why all the cars were parked down at that end of the street? So, I go see. |
Must be selling "Good Morning" beers in LA BAR. Now is that Louisiana Bar or French for "bar". If it is French it means bar. Like LE USE CAR LOT or LE TELEPHONE? New stuff does not have French words for them in south Louisiana. Our French goes back to the 1700's and was not refreshed. But surely there were bars back then. Ah, "bar" is a French word. Whew. That works. |
Yes, that is me parked there, but only for the picture. I make it a policy of not going into local (for them) bars and meeting friendly new people. Those beers might be "really, really, late night, I hate your face beers" and not "good morning" beers. And, it's not in the job discription. Time to go. Hit the "next" |
