"Sugarcane Alley" is designed as a ride report following Bayou Teche with points of interest pictured with a few words spouted. I had been wanting to focus on this area for a while. This area can only be discribed as "Sugarcane Alley". Sugarcane is the blood of the area. It, the seafood industry, and oil sustain most here. Riding these backroads, absorbing all , is a rich experience. The layers of history passing, mirrowed in the present, leaves you feeling that you are in a museum. Far from it. This is the real, real world, settled by hard working people. I am very hesitant about photographing people. To many it is a personal thing, "saved" for family events and such, not for a "yo-yo" on a motorcycle with nothing better to do than ride around getting into other people's business. I wish I had a few faces to go with this. It would make the message clearer. Martin's Store is a rare example. Hope you enjoy the ride through my backyard. |
