Meet Firefly (formerly G Man). Firefly is a three year old Welsh Cob/ Arabian cross gelding. Welsh Cobs are Secion D of the Welsh stud book and are a rare breed in this country. There are only about 1500 registered with the WCPSA. They do not have to be ponies - they stand from 13.2 hands and up and are sturdy little horses with great pony character! Firefly's Arabian sire may have refined him somewhat but with the amount of substantial bone he already has, by the time he matures the only clue to his Arabian side may be that characteristic Arabian tail! His dam is Winterlake Catrin who was likely bred at Winterlake Welsh Cobs. I will know more about her when I get a chance to review Firefly's papers. Thank you so much to Barb of Elk Run Farm for showing us Firefly and allowing us to purchase such a wonderful young gelding! |

Firefly has turned out to be such a character! We have nicknamed him "The Soccer Hooligan". We've all seen those rowdy soccer fans, faces painted in their team's colors, screaming in the stands and ready for a major party whether their team is winning or losing... that's Fly. Guide to photos; Above left - Fly loves Jordyn, December 2005. Above right - Fly and Jordyn trotting outside, April 2006. Left - Fly and Jordyn cantering outside, May 2006. Didn't Fly shed out to the prettiest liver color? I also love his expressive face. Click any photo to see the full-sized version. Hopefully Fly will start his jumping career later this summer and we will add photos of that! |
