The Rhode Island Dairy Goat Association (RIDGA) is made up of individuals interested in the many facets of Dairy Goat Activity. The primary goal of the group is to fulfill out stated motto, “For the Betterment of the Dairy Goat Industry”. We strive to improve the quality of our livestock and the products derived from them, i.e. fine quality milk, hard and soft cheeses, meat for the table (called chevron), and a variety of other goodies such as yogurt, ice cream and soaps. RIDGA is a member of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA), the national governing and registry body, and of the Rhode Island Agricultural Council. RIDGA generally sponsors at least one open doe show, as well as some breed specialties, and participates in state exhibitions, demonstrations or any other event to which we are invited to better inform the public of the value of the Dairy Goat. RIDGA also supports 4-H and other youth groups to ensure coming generations of Dairy Goat devotees. Owning Dairy Goats is a delightful experience. Clean, affectionate, economical and productive; they are ideal animals for small farms to produce the family milk supply. RIDGA members are always happy to share their experience with newcomers and are always on hand to answer questions. RIDGA offers both regular and junior membership. Meet new people who share your passion for promoting the Dairy Goat. RIDGA meets monthly for meetings and educational pieces. A quarterly newsletter is mailed out to all members.
