2. OBJECT

A-TYPE: Get as many lines as possible. If you start at level “0” you need 10 lines to progress to level “1” and so on. If you start at any level above level “0” you need to get the previous lines, example: If you start at level “1” you need the lines it takes to reach level 1 (10) plus the lines it takes to reach level “2” from level “1 (10), thus you need 10+10 levels to reach level “2” from level “1”.

B-TYPE: Get 25 lines.

3. LINES

Get 10 squares horizontally connected and you get a line, which disappears. Your line count increases by 1. You can get a maximum of 4 lines at once.

4. CHEATS

+ 10 Levels: Hold “A” whiles selecting a level in the A-Type menu.

Start off with a Tetris: Push “start” when the demo gets a Tetris (4-lines), wait until the screen flashes (the demo gets 2 Tetris’s). Next start a game. The screen will start flashing and then once the first block of the game touches the ground you get the points for a Tetris and you should also get 4 lines.

5. B-TYPE ENDINGS

The levels (0-8) work like this: for height “0” one of the objects crosses the screen. For every height above height “0”, additional objects of the same nature cross the screen.

Level 0: Dragonfly

Level 1: Seagull

Level 2: Penguin

Level 3: U. F. O.’ s

Level 4: Pterodactyl

Level 5: Blimp that says “good”

Level 6: Ostrich

Level 7: Dragon

Level 8: Shuttle

Level 9, height 0: Violinist

Level 9, height 1: Violinist, flute Player (Link???)

Level 9, height 2: Violinist, flute Player (Link???), cello player

Level 9, height 3: Violinist, flute Player (Link???), cello player, drummer (DK)

Level 9, height 4: Violinist, flute Player (Link???), cello player, drummer (DK), accordion player (Bowser)

Level 9, height 5: Violinist, flute Player (Link???), cello player, drummer (DK), accordion player (Bowser), Mario, Luigi and Princess

6. MISCELLANEOUS

Why “Tetris”? Tetris comes from the Greek word “tettares” meaning “four”. Lets see, how many things in Tetris have a four. All of the blocks have FOUR squares, the maximum lines you can get is FOUR and the maximum possibilities for each block is a multiple of FOUR. So I think the name is very appropriate.

Score: Guess whose name is in the “high score” box, that’s right, Alex, short for ALEXey Pazhitnov, the creator of the game.

Suicide: During the game, push “A”, “B”, “Start” and “Select” at the same time and the game will reset. Now apparently as rumored, you can keep your score if you do this after making a Tetris.
