If you’re not familiar with the Golden Key Society, (You can check out their oppressive site here),
"Golden Key is an academic honour society which recognizes and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among college and university students from all academic disciplines."
Basically it takes the top 10% or so of universities (based on GPA of course) and selects them for this special club. I know a few people who are in the Golden Key Society and their benefits of membership include:

Discounted Magazine subscriptions
Help with CV / Career planning
Over $400,000 awarded annually in scholarships
Member discounts and post-graduate benefits

But hold on! Why do these people get all these useful things? They’re smart and hard working. That’s why they’re in the top 10% of their universities! Their reward is their high GPA which they can put on their CV. They don’t need these benefits. It’s the people struggling but who are still hard working who could really use the exclusive CV / career advice. And unless they’re art students, a high GPA can translate into a high paying job, so why do they need the annual scholarships? If there was ever a organisation designed to ensure the divide between rich and poor, this is it.

Conclusion
If you get offered a membership to Golden Key, don’t take it. Congratulate yourself on getting some good grades, but don’t be lured into the dark side of Golden Key.
If you’re already a member of Golden Key, then shouldn’t you be logging off? You’re late for your KKK meeting.
