Apologetics
Be Prepared...

"Be ready always to give an answer to everyone that asks you the reason of the hope that is in you..."
I Peter 3:15

Confused looks usually grace the faces of many Christians when the word "apologetics" is used.
What is aplogetics? Should Christians really "apologize"for what they believe?
Is this just some large theological term that only those in seminaries across the country should bother with?

These are the most prevelant responses when I metion my love for aplogetics.

Apologetics is simply the defense of the faith.  It is essentally what Peter was talking about in the verse above- being ready to give a reason for why you believe as you do.

As Christians, we have all been apologists at one point or another.  If you have the wonderful hope in you that comes from the knowlege of who Christ is and what He has done for you, you cannot help but to tell others about it.

Many of us have been told what verses to use when sharing the gospel, but are we truly equiped to give a logical and Biblically based answer for what we believe?  Do we even understand what we believe?  Sadly, many Christians today do not.

The challenge mentioned by Peter in chapter three verse fifteen is not one that we, as Christians, can ignore or leave for the pastors and teachers to fulfill. Instead, it is an important factor in every believer's life- a command that we must obey.

Be prepared.
