Nell
Nell laughed as she breathed in the fresh air, "Finally, a break from the musty theatre!"
She was in awe at the size and beauty of the Healing Den. She'd never been away from the Institute, being the daughter of the Head Master, and she'd only ever seen one Dragoneer other than the one who had bond searched them.
"The girls dorms are this way," The Dragoneer told them. "You three will be staying there. You guys are going to be over there."
Nell sighed as she, Raven, and Meteor started towards the Girls' Dorm as the Dragoneer lead Telven and Drake to the Boys'. She set her stuff down and turned to go and see how Drake was settling in.
"Drake?" Nell sighed, peeking into the room. "Are you all right?"
"I'm fine, Nell," Drake sighed, sitting down on his bed. "I'm fine."
"You don't look fine," Nell sighed. "You look like you're going to be sick."
Drake shook his head. He should have known Nell'd be able to see right through him. She placed her hand gently on his thigh.
"Drake, tell me what's wrong," Nell sighed. "We've been friends forever. You've always told me everything. Why can't you tell me this?"
Drake gulped, "Because it involves you. It involves you too fully."
"What do you mean by that, Drake?" Nell sighed. "If it involves me, I want to know."
"Nell, you wouldn't understand," Drake sighed.
"We've been friends forever, and you always told me everything," Nell sighed. "Why can't you tell me this?"
"You'll hate me if I tell you," Drake sighed. "All of you will."
"When you're ready to tell me, Drake," Nell sighed, "I'll be in my Den."
Nell was confused as she walked back towards the Girls' Dorm. She noticed Raven storming out of the Dorm with her bathing suit thrown over her shoulder. Nell sighed as she entered the Dorm.
"What was that about?" She asked Meteor.
"Not sure," Meteor laughed. "Maybe it was something I said."
Nell laughed, "Don't worry about it. She'll cool off in awhile. It seems like everyone is fowl tempered now."
  "Drake?" Meteor asked.
"Yeah," Nell sighed. "He's talking in circles, and refuses to tell me what's bothering him. I swear I'm going to...oh, never mind. I don't have the strength for it anyway," Nell sighed, flopping back on her bed.
"You guys are a bunch of glum guses," Meteor pouted. "I'm going to go see if I can find someone who isn't so down in the dumps about this whole thing. Maybe one of the bonders from somewhere else..."
Nell laughed as she watched Meteor leave, talking to herself about what she was going to look for. She was always good for a laugh.

Sleep came easily that night, but didn't stay very long. Nell's dreams were riddled with situtations she'd rather not encounter. It was during the hatching. She was standing on the sands between Drake and Meteor. As watched happily as Meteor bonded. Drake looked over at her as he greeted another hatchling. He said something that she couldn't quite make out and then walked away. As she watched the others about her, she realized she would be left alone if one of them didn't come to her soon. Suddenly, she fell backwards and a sharp pain ran up her left leg.
"Nell, Nell, wake up," She heard Raven whisper as she reached out to push whatever was causing the pain off of her.
She blinked when she realized that she had been dreaming, "Hatching sands?" She muttered.
"Hatching sands," Raven sighed, nodding. "It's just a dream. Don't worry about it."
Nell smiled as she laid back down. She'd think about it tomorrow. She was just too tired now.

Nell was relieved when the candidates were filed out into the sands. Her group gathered together as they watched the eggs rock. Only a few dragons bonded before two large greens hatched. When the lighter of the two dark greens approached the candidates, many of them backed away at her snapping jaws. She already had a full mouth of teeth, and her grey-green wingsails snapped open when she wanted through. Among her friends, Nell sometimes felt that her strange dreams said more than words could – she would be left behind if the secrets weren’t let out. But there was no secret here – she was bonding to this strong willed green!
“I know, I know, we should wait for the others to bond before leaving... But who knows how many dragons will hatch in between now and then, Biurtonth,” Nell said, scratching the wide muzzle of her dragon. They remained, and Nell saw the odd look on Drake’s face as he watched.
She smiled to him as Biurtonth snapped, Forget about it, love. He's not your type.
"What do you mean?" Nell asked her green.
  You'll see, Biurtonth said.
