Wild River Hatching #2
   Vissa sighed as Jumar nudged her. She blinked and looked up at the sky. Dark storm clouds were rolling over the Caer. It would rain soon. It would be the first rain of the spring season, but that wasn’t what Jumar wanted her to see. As a clash of thunder sounded through out the Caer, Vissa noticed one of her smaller eggs cracking.
  Both of them called loudly, and the bonders filed out onto the dunes, each wearing a dark green pin - well, with the exception of Ygraith and Taliphith, the dragon bonders for the clutch - that showed their soon-to-be new Dragoneer status. Teranoma beamed proudly. She had designed the Caer’s pin herself, and it was good to see them put to use since they hadn’t been ready soon enough for the last clutch.
  Seth, the Jr. Caerlord, accompanied the bonders onto the dunes. He smiled at each of them as they circled the eight eggs. He frowned though when he noticed only four were rocking strongly. Casero called him over to the stands as the first egg cracked down the center spilling a small red onto the sands.
  Vissa and Jumar bulged proudly to their first child. Everyone cheered until the little red spread his wings to stead himself. A hush fell over the crowd as a collective gasp came from the young bonders. Vissa and Jumar bulged happily as their red son revealed his rather dark blue wing sails.
  The little red/blue moved forward looking briefly at the many females before turning to the only human male bonder, Donan, do they not like me? Why did they stop cheering?
  Terra smiled broadly as she spotted the familiar look that crossed Donan’s face. She began to cheer loudly causing the rest of the audience to cheer as well.
  “See, Iyuth, they like you,” Donan said, smiling warmly as he stroked the red/blue’s head. “They were just a little shocked by your color.”
  “Why?” Iyuth asked.
  “I’ll explain after we get you fed,” Donan said, leading his bond off of the dunes.
  Seth smiled at the first pairing as another egg cracked. Another large male spilled onto the sands, this one was a normal blue. It was darker than normal, but still was simply blue. The little dragon looked about him, crooning softly, sadly as he turned and walked over towards the bonders, butting at each one. He turned to the riders - Terra, Casero, and Seth - who stood watching him. Seth smiled down at the little blue as he curled up at Seth’s feet.
  “He says his name is Reiyth, and his bond isn’t here,” Seth sighed, kneeling to stroke the little blue’s back. “Fasylth and I will take him down to the Unbonded Caer and get him something to eat.”
  Terra nodded as she watched Seth go, carrying the little blue who seemed to not really care what was done to him. A tear trickled down Terra’s cheek as she wished silently that the little dragon wouldn’t give up on hope just because his bond wasn’t present at the hatching.
  The largest egg shattered suddenly as everyone was still watching the blue go. The young dragon bulged sharply and loudly. Everyone’s gaze snapped onto her. She was a delicately colored dragon was a snow white base color and bright pastel splashes. Her wing sails were a pure white color. She creeled again, bounding forward and smashing into Taliphith.
  “There you are! I knew there was someone here for me!” She exclaimed. “I’m Hyperith, and you’re my choice to bond.”
  Taliphith laughed, Well, well, Hyperith, eh? The name certainly fits.
  “What’s that suppose to mean!” The white rainbow dragon snapped.
 Nothing, love. Nothing, Taliphith sighed as he lead his bond over to get some food.
  Ygraith called a congratulation to her friend as she felt something bang into her, “Ygraith, can we follow them, please?”
  She turned her eyes on the sound of the voice, Well, Calmith, I suppose we can, She said, smiling at the dragon who was the exact opposite of Hyperith with a black base instead of white.
  Everyone cheered as the two hatchlings were lead away by the other dragons. The other eggs didn’t seem to be moving. The three remaining girls - Volaera, Alora, and Seragina - watched them carefully. After several minutes, Terra shook her head slowly.
  “I’m sorry, girls, but I don’t think....”
  Suddenly, two eggs burst open. The one dragonet didn’t move. She was a light pink color. The other dragon was a deep honey gold. The gold turned to look at the girls. Seragina peered at the gold hatchling, but she couldn’t help but look over at the little pink dragon who was struggling to stand. The gold started towards Seragina, but a call from the stands caused Seragina to rush towards the pink.
  “Help her, Mommy!” Was the tiny shout that came from Seragina’s son, Sheik.
  “I am. I am,” Seragina sighed, helping the little pink to her feet. “Are you all right?”
  “I’m fine. I’m Jiugyth,” The pink stammered quietly. “I’d like you to be my bond, but I think that gold wants you, too.”
  “Oh, Jiugyth, I would never pick any gold over you,”Seragina cried, wrapping her arms around the pink’s neck.
  The gold snorted angrily as she looked up at the other girls. She focused briefly on Volaera before turning away and moving to her mother’s side. Vissa sighed, nuzzling the little gold.
  Her name is Visith, Vissa sighed. She doesn’t think she has a bond out there. Casero, could you please come and help her get something to eat.
  Casero nodded as he walked over to the little gold, kneeling to her. She looked up into his eyes and crooned softly as he reached out his hand to her. She stood slowly, placing her paw in his hand before she followed him to get some food.
  The remaining eggs didn’t move. Jumar sighed softly, shaking his head, They aren’t going to hatch. I’m sorry, girls.
  Terra smiled softly at Volaera and Alora, “You can both stay here if you wish. Our Bond-searchers’ dragons have just flown and will be clutching soon. You’re welcome to stay for that clutch.”
  Volaera and Alora nodded as Terra smiled, leading them down towards the dining halls for the celebration feast.
