| Yohlisanth had been adopted. Xira was both happy and sad about that. She had come to like the green, and though she hated to admit it, Yohlisanth had really been her only chance at helping one of them. The blue wasn't really all that interested in her, and while Erynduth liked her, "A girl is no rider for a bronze." Xira sighed as she scrubbed Erynduth's hide, hearing the Weyrwoman's comment echo in her ears. She liked Tiyanni, much more than she liked Tera, but Xira knew that if she bonded, she'd have to return to Wild River, for nothing more than to rub her bonding in Tera and Casero's face. Erynduth bulged as two riders from the Weyr walked over to where she and Erynduth were. She smiled at them as she continued to scrub Erynduth. "Xira?" The female rider sighed. "Yeah," Xira said, not even stopping for a second as she scrubbed so of the tougher dirty at had gotten buried in the dragon hide. "What is it?" "Xira, could you stop for just a second?" The other rider, an older male, exclaimed. "Sure," Xira sighed, setting down her cloth. "What is it?" "Since you really don't have much of a chance at helping these dragons," The female started, only to be interrupted by Erynduth's growl. "All right, adopting one of these dragons, We'd like you to stand for the current clutch." Xira sighed, picking her cloth back up, "I really think I'm better here with Erynduth and Varioth." Erynduth crooned softly, turning his head to face Xira, You've helped me as much as you can, love. I'll never really be helped until someone comes to replace Tarledonn, and you can't do that. It'll be good for you to bond, and no, you don't have to go back to Wild River. You can stay here. "I'll have to go back eventually, but I'll try and stay to see you adopted," Xira sighed. "I know a couple boys back home who would be perfect for you. Only if they could get here..." Don't worry about me, love, Erynduth sighed. Go. Bond. Be happy. I wish you all the best and hope you have better luck than I did. Xira smiled weakly as she turned from the whirling eyes of the bronze to the faces of the two riders, "All right," She sighed, several tears rolling down her cheek. "All right." *** Xira laid back in the candidate's dorm. There was only one other Alskran bonder there, and he was also from Wild River. She missed the 'guys'. She hadn't visited them in awhile. She had had too many chores. She had tried to talk to Erynduth, but since they weren't truely bonded, it was very difficult. She couldn't wait until she had bonded. Hopefully, she wouldn't have to back to Wild River so soon, and she'd have more time to go and visit Erynduth; although, she hoped he'd find someone soon. *** Xira tapped her foot. She was beginning to get annoyed. She had had to watch all these eggs hatch and not one of the molting dragons had looked her way. Maybe Casero was right. She didn't have what it took to bond. Just then, a young green burst from her shell. Oh, no, you don't! The green cried. You are going to bond if I have to run across the whole of this world to get to you. With a leap, the dragon landed in Xira's arms, "Hevriteth, my darling, you don't have to go that far." *** |

Hevriteth crooned happily as Xira peek into the abandoned den. Erynduth wasn't in there, but the little blue was still laying to the side of the den. "Varioth," Xira called. "Where's Erynduth? I have someone to introduce to him." Erynduth is out with...that boy, Varioth growled. Come back later. Hevriteth crooned sadly and waddled over to the blue, Don't worry. Someone will come soon. I know someone will come. |
| Varioth growled and snapped at the little green, Everyone says that! You're no different than any of them! Go away and leave me alone! Hevriteth jumped backwards and crooned again, this time to Xira, He isn't really mad, just frustrated. Let's go, Xira. He wishes to be alone. Xira took one last glance at the blue as Hevriteth shoved her out the door. She gasped as she bumped into a young man as Hevriteth rushed her out of the room. I knew someone would come. That blue will be better now, Hevriteth crooned happily to herself. *** Xira smiled as Hevriteth crooned angrily, leaping at a pile of Xira's dirty clothes. The young green growled softly as she rolled around in the clothes. Suddenly, a sock landed on her sensitive nose. She leaped out of the clothes, shaking her muzzle. Jeez, Xira, don't you every wash those things!? Hevriteth exclaimed. Xira laughed as her little hatchling looks up at her, "Sometimes, but not this week." Hevriteth snorted softly as she turned her back on her Impressor, Slob, she thought, jokingly. Continue... |
