Christmas Bootie

God bless you and thank you kindly for taking a peek at this page.

I just crocheted this Christmas bootie.  The other is almost done, too and I will be sending it to
Mary Ann R., [from Crochet Partners], in California, so she can give them to one of the babies
in the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit.

This is my favourite baby bootie pattern.  I even know it by heart.  The pattern is from:
Special Moments Baby Layette
by Sue Childress

I've done the afghan, the dolly afghan, the baby booties, and the bonnet.
Next, perhaps next month, I'll make the dress.  It's beautiful and I like it a lot
because it uses baby fingering weight yarn, not thread.  I'm not a good threadie.
:o)

The edging is not the same as in the book.  For the edging, I did:

Chain 1, single crochet in the same stitch,
chain 2, single crochet in second chain from hook.
Skip one stitch, and work until the end:
single crochet in next stitch, chain 2,
single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, skip next stitch.
At the end, join with a slip stitch in first single crochet.

I got the leaf from:

101 Crochet Squares
by Jean Leinhauser
© American School of Needlework

The berry is simply:
 With red #10 thread,
Chain 4 and join with a slip stitch to form a ring.
Chain 1 and do 8 single crochets in ring.
Join with a slip stitch in first single crochet,
leaving a long end for sewing.
