Round 1- Chain 3, dc in 3rd chain from hook. The 2 chains you skipped count as the first double crochet, now and throughout.  Working all in the same space, make 3 dc, 3 hdc, 5 dc, 3 hdc and slip stitch in the chain 2 of the beginning.

Round 2- Chain 2, dc in same st, work all around (2 dc in each dc, hdc in each hdc).

Round 3- Chain 2, dc in same st, work (1 double crochet in next stitch, 2 in next) 4 times, 2 double crochet in next stitch, double crochet in each half double crochet, 2 double crochet in next stitch, (1 double crochet in next stitch, 2 in next) 3 times, 2 double crochet in next stitch, double crochet in each half double crochet and join with a slip stitch in chain 2.

Next Rounds-  here you must sort of wing it.  Continue working 2 dc in the ends as you need them, and then on the sides use just 1 in each stitch.  If your work ruffles, use less dc and if it curves, add more, just as if you were making a beret.

"And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work
and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom.
To Him be glory forever and ever.  Amen!"  (2 Timothy 4:18)
