Top Bowlers cont'd

Shahid Afridi

S. Afridi

“A flamboyant allrounder who was brought into international cricket as a 16-year-old legspinner and surprised everyone but himself by pinch-hitting the fastest one-day hundred in his maiden innings.”(Abbasi). One of few all-rounders on the team (able to bat and bowl very well). Ability to bowl different variations of length and speed with his leg-spin. In addition, crucial wickets claimed with his leg-spin makes him a bowling standout. His all or nothing style of play makes him a headache for management, coaching and opposing players, which is probably a good thing. Has a heavy temperament and can make "you pay" on the field depending on his mood.

Rana Naved-Ul-Hasan

R. Naved-ul-Hasan

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan just started playing cricket at the age of seventeen. Remarkably, ten years later he’s not only on the national team beating out thousands of players, but is the leading medium-pace bowler on the team. His first ever game against arch rivals India was a bumpy but good match for him. “…a return to the team for the ODI opener against India in Karachi. In a game full of memorable moments, Hasan's stood out - his first over went for 24 runs but he replied with three crucial wickets. As with most Pakistan bowlers of pace, he can bowl a reverse-swinging yorker almost at will. His change of pace, as Virender Sehwag will testify, is another useful weapon….”(Samiuddin).

Danish Kaneria

D. Kaneria

“A tall, wiry legspinner, and only the second Hindu to play Test cricket for Pakistan (the first, his cousin Anil Dalpat, was briefly their wicketkeeper), Danish Kaneria mastered some vital skills at an early age. His stock ball drifts into the batsman and he possesses a well-disguised googly….But it was during the India tour of 2005, where Kaneria was Pakistan's best bowler by some way, that Kaneria showed his true class. Against batsmen who routinely demolish legspinner Kaneria picked up 19 wickets from three Tests and helped Pakistan draw the series 1-1.”(Abbasi).Danish is quickly becoming the worlds’ best leg-spinner with consistent and powerful performances in recent series. Well mannered individual does whatever possible cricket related to do his country proud.
