Served as secretary - From Jan. 1936 to Dec. 1941

Born as Shaileshchandra Bandopadhyaya on 8 December, 1893 to Sri Bihari Bandopadhyaya and Smt Sushila Devi as their second son at Dhaka in Vajrayogini village. Passed MA in History (first class first) from Calcutta University in 1914. Joined as a lecturer in DAV College at Lahore and then at Jagannath College in Dhaka. He was married to Smt Pankajini Devi in 1917. Came in contact with Dhaka math and was initiated by Swami Shivanandaji along with his wife in 1922. He also came in contact with Swami Abhedanandaji, Subodhanandaji and Vijnanandaji.

Joined the Ramakrishna Order with Mahapurush Maharaj's permission in 1929 at Belur math and was initiated into Sannyasa in 1930 by his guru. Shivanandaji commented, "Do I give him sannyasa, it is Sri Ramakrishna who is initiating him into sannyasa, he is already brahmachari, why bother for formal brahmacharya?" He worked as private secretary to Swami Akhanadanandaji for 6 months when the later became president. Member of Working Committee from 1934-1936. Secretary of Delhi Ashrama (1936-41).President of Madras Math from 1944-1971. Built up a new lecture hall there, charitable dispensary etc. Started the Telegu journal from Madras Math. Became a trustee in 1961. Returned to Belur Math in 1971 as Treasurer of the Math, became Vice President in 1975 and stayed at Belur Math.  Passed away in Seva Pratisthan on 15 December 1978. He was a relentless japaka and inspired others to do the same. His wife became a nun after his sannyasa and lived at her guru's place - Barasat till passing away.
