Atlantic Drive

Now we'll bring you along the stunning Atlantic Drive. This is one of the places where you'll be glad that we're driving! Looking out over the wild Atlantic Ocean, next stop Newfoundland, spare a thought for the seamen making their living out there, and make whatever small donation you can to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. This is a Voluntary Organisation saving lives at sea, run entirely by Voluntary Contributions. The Achill Lifeboat, the "Sam and Ada Moody" is a Trent Class all-weather boat with a voluntary crew of 5 local men and women.

Throughout the Tour, we will explain how people lived their lives on Achill Island in the past, and how things have changed in the intervening years. You'll see local animal and plant life, and hear about events, natural and man-made, that shaped Achill into the modern Irish island it is today.
