MY  FERNERY
Most treeferns in my collection have been grown by myself, or fellow treefern enthusiasts, from spore, and in most cases were planted in the ground from 6-8" pots. Despite poor sandy coastal soil (supplemented by constant addition of home-grown mulch, and lots of rocks and logs), and an unpredictable and at times severe Melbourne climate (light frosts to the occasional 40 degrees), many of my initial treefern plantings have thrived. Species such as Cyathea cooperi, C. brownii & C. medullaris outgrew the small trees originally planted to shelter them, and some of these treeferns now form much of the canopy in the fernery.
