| Fernworld is one of Melbourne’s few retail nurseries specializing in ferns, including a good range of treeferns (plus palms, grass trees and water garden & aquatic plants). It is very easy to spend a few hours investigating the many nooks and crannies which make up their sales area. As well as a wide range of hardy fern species to choose from, there are many other plants suited to growing in a fernery, and the natural layout offers many ideas for those who might like to set up a fernery but are not quite sure where to start. The treefern sales area is near the back, behind an area of raised shade-cloth planted out with a number of larger specimens. Apart from some more obvious species, with a bit of effort you may find Cyathea robusta, Dicksonia squarrosa & D. youngiae. Treeferns regularly on sale here (in quite a range of sizes) include Cyathea australis C. brownii C. cooperi C. cunninghamii C. dealbata C. medullaris C. robusta C. tomentossisima Dicksonia antarctica D. squarrosa |
