Here we go...My first full day here. I woke up at 4 AM with a headache. Jet lag? Maybe. I had to call my honey. I had to hear his voice. I miss him and the kids. I slept very well and I did get 9 hours of sleep. Yeah! Today, we will go around town and see the little town of Woodend my friend lives in. The after noon we are going to meet her mother in law where she will be a judge for a gymastics team. Thats the plan right now. Now maybe I can catch a few more winks of sleep?

First things first...breakfast. Eggs toast and salami. Dez cooked them up for me and they were yummy good!! Never would have thought of having salami for breakfast. We packed up the girls and headed for Woodend. It's a cute little town. I will have photos up soon. We walked down the side walk and looked into the shopes. There are so many different cafes here. They have them instead of dinners and resturants. And there is really no fast food places here in Woodend. If you want to get food to go it's called take away. We walked to the bank and then on to the local aromatherapy shope. ummmmmm it smelled very good in there. Then on to the post office I closed down. Yep you heard me. Me, all the way from america, closed down the local post office last year.

It happened like this......my friend Dez and I would send packages back and forth of different things and we would slip in a gag gift. This one package I sent I was racking my brain to come up with one. What can you give a pregnant woman as a gag gift? .....I bought a pack of candy ciggs. You know...the kind we got as kids pretending that we were smoking and all that. Any how...I sent the package off and 3 weeks went by. She didn't get it yet. Usually it took about 10 days for our packages to arrive. Bear in mind this was right after the Sept. 11 so we thought mail will be slower, give it another week. A month goes by, still no package. Then one day Dez goes to the PO and finds all the yellow police tape around the entrance and the PO shut down. Two days later, she got her package, opened by the post office so we knew thats what happend. Can you believe it!!! At least we like to think of it that way.

So I got a few photos of that post office. We crossed the street and stoped at a jewelers and book store/cafe. The cafe was so cool. The walls had murals of different fictional characters and the walls are lined with book shelves, and tables in the middle of the room so you can sit and read and drink your coffee or tea....It was a neet place. We made a quick stop at the liquor store then on to Hanging Rock Park.

This was a beautiful place. Peacful, quiet...a place you would like to just sit and take it all in. There was a small cafe there plus a discover center you could walk through and learn the history of the place. There was a trail going to the top but Dez said...lets NOT and say we did.....I know I didnt have the energy for a 30 minute hike as much as I would have liked to, no way jose. We had lunch at the cafe, which had a gift shop also of aborigine (sp) art work. Lots of cool things to see. Lunch was fantastic. I am liking the ideas of cafe eating compared to the rush rush rush, gulp-your-food-down so the next customer can come in restaurants and fast food places. It had atmostphere and that makes the food and company all the better.

Next off to the grocery store. Safeway. I walked up and down the aisles looking at all the different packages and things I've never heard of. I took some pictures of that too. I mean, I never heard of tuna with garlic in a can. Or any other herb or spice. All new to me. And the bread here is much better too. Not sicky sweet but with nice texture and flavor. I could go on and on about it. But I'll spare my readers.

Tonight it's off to the big city to meet the Mother in Law. More later.

Dez gave me purple roses for my room and they are beautiful! purple roses
