Private Andrew Jackson Baldridge


Andrew Jackson Baldridge was born in Clairborn County Tennessee on April 27, 1844. He was the son of John and Visa (Brown) Baldridge. Andrew married Ruth Gillam, daughter of Gillam and Lucinda (Sparks) Gillam. Their children were: Lilbourn and Frank Baldridge.

Andrew enlisted on 13 September 1862 at Peach Orchard in Company A, 39th Kentucky. He was a dispatch bearer for General Stephen G. Burbridge in the raid on King's Saltworks at Saltville, Virginia. He took an active part in the battles at Mt. Sterling and Cynthiana, against General John Hunt Morgan's Raiders. Baldridge was honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky on September 15, 1865. After the war he resided in East Point, Kentucky.
