James Henderson Dingus was born on September 21, 1833 in Scott County Virginia and died on April 4, 1902 at Alphoretta in Floyd County Kentucky. James married on May 6, 1855 in Floyd County to Sarah Belieu Halbert, d/o John Halbert and Elizabeth Farrow Booker. Elizabeth was born on October 1, 1834, and died on November 27, 1919. James was a corporal in the Civil War, Company F, 39th Kentucky Mounted Infantry. James and Sarah had 10 children, all born at the Forks of Beaver Creek at Alphoretta (Dinwood), Kentucky.

David Crockett Dingus was born on October 10, 1837 and died on August 13, 1864 of Typhus Fever at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Montgomery County, while serving in Civil War, Company F, 39th Kentucky Infantry. He married Victoria J. Halbert, d/o John Halbert and Elizabeth Booker. They had two children.

James and David Dingus were both sons of William Dingus.
