Biography

Dillard Parsons, Company E of the 39th Kentucky, Union Regiment.. born 17 March 1822 in Giles County Virginia, he married Sydney "Sitchie" Harman, 3 or 8 July 1841 in Giles County Virginia, Syndey was born around 1825, her Great Grandfather Henry Harman Sr, born in 1726 in Isle of Man in England, also known as Heinrich Johan Herraman, German name, migrated to America with his father and brothers and sisters around 1727, This Henry Harman Sr, a brother and their father Adam were the ones who rescued Mary Ingle Drapers on the New River after her escape from the Indian captivity in the late 1750"s....., also her Great Uncle Mathias Harman was the main character in forming Harmans Station on Blockhouse Bottem in modern day Johnson County Kentucky near Paintsville... Syndey, her parents and 4 brothers and sisters and one of her children all died of Typhoid fever within a few days of each other in November 1845 in Giles County Virginia...after his wifes death Dillard and the surviving children and his parents moved to Pike County Kentucky, where he married 2nd Mary Helvey.

Dillard Parsons was the son of David Parsons (born about 1790 and died after 1860) and his wife Mary Polly Dalton, (born about 1782 died on 12 June 1855). David Parsons was the son of John Parsons and Penelipe _____? Dillard was in Company E of the 39th, he was a preacher after the Civil War. He was a Preacher for a time at the Pond Creek Baptist Church in Pike County Kentucky. Around 1865 he and his family moved to Getaway Ohio, which is in Lawrence County. He started a Baptist Church near Greasey Ridge, near Getaway, and is supposed to be buried nearby but the grave has never been found. Dillard died 13th June 1866 according the Family Bible that still survives to this day...
