ELI STAPLETON: Co. G, 39th KY (UNION) Mounted Infantry. Joined the company on Oct. 17, 1862, at Peach Orchard, KY, with his age given as 23 years. He was mustered into the company on Jan. 12, 1863, at Peach Orchard, Lawrence County, KY, as a 5th Sergeant. He was present until he was stated as a deserter on Jan. 28, 1864, at Cattletsburg, KY, but was present on the March-April muster roll. He later had to forfeit 16 days pay in late 1864. He was mustered out at Louisville, KY, on Sept. 15, 1865, as a Private. He is my 4th Great-Uncle.
