Private Granville Hall


Biography

Granville Hall was born about 1835 in Scott County Virginia. He was the son of Thomas Deal and Elizabeth Hall. He is listed in the 1850 Floyd County Census with his parents and two brothers; Campbell born 1833 and Tolbert born 1845. Granville married Matilda Hall on the 13th of February 1855 in Floyd County. At least three children were born to them; Yontz born in 1860, Mary born in 1863 and Campbell born in 1867. All of these children used the Deal surname.

Granville enlisted in the 39th Kentucky on the 28th of February 1864 at Louisa and was assigned to Company K. On the "Muster and Descriptive Roll" he is described as having black eyes, black hair, a dark complexion and being 5 feet, 6 inches tall. Granville was in desertion at the time his company was mustered out of the service. In 1890 he and his family are living on the lower part of Branham Creek in Floyd County.

On the 11th of November 1891, Granville applied for an invalid pension, #1076339. He is buried in the Nimrod Hall Cemetery on Branham Creek in Floyd County Kentucky.
