Thomas Baldridge, Company A

Thomas Baldridge was born in May 1825, Russell Co., VA, and died on 15 Jun., 1906, at Miller's Creek, Johnson Co., KY. He was the son of William Baldridge, Jr., of Rutherford Co., NC, and Hannah Estep of Russell Co., VA. He married Martha Wilburn of Claiborne Co., TN, on 17 Aug., 1850. They resided in Claiborne Co., TN until moving to Floyd Co., KY between 1850-1855. They lived in Johnson Co., KY, when he joined the 39th. Thomas married 17 year old Lizzie Ward in Paintsville, Johnson Co., KY, on 11 Jan., 1900. Thomas and his brother, John Baldridge, served in the same unit. Thomas was a farmer in Claiborne Co., TN; Floyd and Johnson Counties, KY, his entire life.

Thomas and Martha had the following children: (1) Mary Elizabeth, b. 1851; (2) William, b. 1855; (3) John, b. 1856; (4) Jefferson, b. 1859; (5) Isaac, b. 1861; (6) Henry, b. Dec 1864; (7) James, b. 1867; (8) Sarah Alice, b. 1878.

Thomas Baldridge enrolled in Company A of the 39th Kentucky on July 25th, 1863; he was mustered-in at Louisa on August 30th, 1863; he mustered out with the regiment at Louisville on September 15th, 1865. No further records for this soldier. According to Charles Wells, Thomas collected a pension for his service in the 39th Kentucky while he resided in the Barnett's Creek Precinct of Johnson County.
