NOTES: Thanks to RICHARD for e-mailing this combination. This is another incredible sleeper combination. Except for the rumble of those 'cool' Flowmasters and those sweet looking 16" Rallys you'd never know it was about to clean your clock.

Vehicle #5: 1970 Camaro
Engine: 350 +.030, forged pistons, app. 9.5:1 comp. ratio, #462 cylinder heads,Crane Blueprint 327/350 HP cam w/1.6 regular rockers,
Weiand Action-Plus intake, 1in. spacer plate, Holley 650 spread bore,
HEI ignition w/Performance Distributors coil, Hooker 1 5/8 headers
Driveline: Muncie 4-speed
Rear End: 12 Bolt, w/GM posi and 4.11 gears
Best E.T. to date: 13.58 @ 102+ MPH on STREET tires and FULL exhaust

NOTES:
still needs tuning, carburetor has not been apart even for jetting, distributor curve has not been set. This car belongs to a friend and I
included it here because I think it has a similar overall weight to a Malibu
and other G-bodies, though the distribution may be different.
I personally believe that this combo will go high 12's, especially if slicks are added and the headers uncorked.

Vehicle #6: 1971 Impala
Engine: 400, stock bore, 80,000+ miles, app. 9.0:1 comp.ratio,
Crane HMV-272 camshaft
(272 dur./.454 lift int., 284 dur./.480 lift exh.),
stock rockers, Weiand Stealth intake, Carter 750 AFB,
HEI ignition, Hedman 1 5/8 headers
Driveline: stock Turbo 350 transmission and converter
Rear End: original 8.5 10 Bolt, w/GM posi and 4.10 gears
Best E.T.: 14.54 95 MPH on street tires and full exhaust
NOTES: further tuning was needed, carburetor had not been apart
even for jetting, distributor needed to be curved, possibly less gear.
This set-up belonged to a friend and I included it here because
I consider it a good food for thought reference. Some may not be
impressed by the performance numbers here but consider
what a new Z28 or Trans Am will do. Compare it to any stock
'60s musclecar through any of the late model factory
performance cars. This then becomes the ultimate sleeper,
grandma idle and all.
5.0 'Stangs should be careful roaming the neighborhood.
This combo shows:
(1) what a motor with high mileage but in good condition can do.
(Think how much quicker it would be if the engine were fresh?)
(2) being a heavy car(4000lbs.+) this is a good example of torque.
What would this combination do in a lighter car(G-body anyone?)
with a slightly looser converter and maybe a little less gear?

Vehicle #7: '67 Chevelle
Engine: 400 small block +.030, cast pistons, 292 Turbo heads with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves, just under 9 to 1 comp. ratio, Isky Z-51 camshaft (240 degrees duration @ .050 and .480 lift i/e), Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, Holley 750  double pumper carburetor, stock points type distributor, 1 5/8 Hedman headers, 3 inch Torque Technologies dual exhaust
Transmission: Turbo-Hydro 350  with B+M 2800 stall torque converter
Rear End: 12 Bolt, 3.31 gears, GM posi-traction, Hotchkis control arms, Mickey Thompson ET Street tires
Best E.T. 12.37 @ 105.92 MPH, closed exhaust
NOTES: This combination was taken from a couple of features done in Chevy High Performance magazine. The owner built it as a budget project.
