CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC (BUILDUP IN PROGRESS)
This is a side view of the car just after the V6 was pulled. The car's color is a light blue metallic with a midnight blue landau top. The paint is mostly original from what I can tell. The landau top is in great shape. The paint on the forward edge of the roof and rear top portion of the trunk lid has weathered away. Some surface rust has started to form on these sections and they will need sanding and repainting. The driver's side door and rear 1/3 of the front fender have had some work. A typical poor repair and blend job by some hack body shop. The door needs work. If  I can find a decent replacement I'll change the whole door. If not, I might be able to get by with changing the door skin. G-bodies seem to be notorious for rust in the lower edge of the door. You can see the last of the bad spots in the body just behind the rear tire on this side. I will strip and patch this area with metal. For this part of the country the body is in good condition overall. At present I don't plan any major bodywork and painting. The car looks decent for now. It will look even better with the aforementioned spot repairs, plus a set of trick wheels and tires. At a later date I would like to strip the whole car to bare metal, make any neccessary repairs, and then apply a show quality finish, probably in the original color. My main focus right now is completeing the drivetrain so I can get to the drag strip and the local cruises in the spring of 2000.
