Day 5

Fall River Road

This was supposed to be a hiking day, but poor Andy woke up with a nasty head cold. He was feeling better later in the day, so we decided to take a ride up old Fall River Road. Fall River Road is a nine mile, one way dirt road that connects with Trail Ridge at the visitor's center near the top.

Fall River Road isn't as scenic as Trail Ridge, but it does have some nice views,
and it gets you right up to Chasm Falls.

While we were driving up Fall River we met two women who were looking for elk, but had only spotted two herds at a distance. I hope they came back the same way we did. We saw a huge herd of cows grazing right along side the road.

A little farther down the road we saw five bull elk camly grazing.

Unfortunately, something like this causes a lot of people to go brain dead, stopping thier cars in the middle of the road and tieing up traffic in both directions.
