We Finally Made It!

Our 2001 trip to RMNP was a trip of firsts for us. I wanted to hike to new destinations and still do some hikes to lakes and peaks that the kids hadn't done before. It turned out to be a trip of more firsts than we had imagined.
Alli finally got bit by the hiking bug, and was on the trail every day but one. Both Alli and Andy realized the beauty of the place and are now as anxious to move to Colorado as Flo and I. It was the first time we've seen a bear out there. Alli and Andy reached lakes and peaks they'd never done before. I went to Finch Lake, Spruce Lake and Notchtop Mountain for the first time. And finally, the entire family, along with Mike, Betsie and Jason reached the summit of Long's Peak at 11:30AM,
August 2. Literally the high point of all our trips to RMNP.

Once again, we stayed at our home away from home, McGregor Mountain Lodge.
