I obtained the first six photographs
below from a relative who is now living in Pekin, IL; and the
latest two from another relative now living in Monticello. These
groups include my grandfather's brother Guy DeLand (1897 -
1919) and hteir cousins Ona DeLand (1903 - 1946) and
Lola Pearl DeLand Smoot (1905 - 1978).
If anyone can identify the unknown
children please email me and I will add that to this web page.
I would also be interested in any stories you may know about the
school or anyone else who attended around this time.
If anyone is affiliated with the Piatt
County Historical Society I would be happy to arrange for prints
to be donated to their collection or web page. Please contact

Photo quality: these photographs were scanned
at 600 dpi and should provide excellent results when viewed enlarged,
either on screen or on a suitable printer. Note that the photos
on this page are reduced to 200 pixels tall - to view high quality
images, click on the desired "thumbnail" for a large
view of the same illustration. Printing any of these on a printer
with less than 600 dpi resultion will result in a poor quality
reproduction! I've had several emails from people who overlooked
this fact, so please take note.
