Founded on Tuesday, December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Alpha Phi Alpha began and continues to set the standard of the model African American man on the collegiate and professional levels around the world. Founded by Seven visionary men known as the Jewels who sought to create an organization that would reach out to black Americans in efforts to uplift the race and produce leaders that would change the world. Today Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated is proud to have a diverse membership of over 150,000 men excelling in the fields of law, medicine, politics, education, and entertainment.
