As most of you know, I
recently attempted the Mardi Gras Marathon.
I finished! It took a little over 5 hours, but I
finished!
I learned a
lot:
= 26.2 miles is a long,
long, long way.
= Don't take Advil at the
half way point, you will feel like you are going
to throw up the next 8
miles.
= 26.2 miles is a long,
long, long way.
= Don't eat spicy New
Orleans food the night before the run.
= 26.2 miles is a long,
long, long way.
= If your work requires that
you walk up stairs, take a few days off after
the
run.
= 26.2 miles is a long,
long, long way.
= Don't think - other
runners are eating some of those cookies while they
run - I think I will try
one. You will feel sick at your
stomach for the
next 5
miles.
= 26.2 miles is a long,
long, long way.
= Train before running a
marathon. Running a half marathon
the week before
does not equal
training.
= And finally - No matter
how flat the course, 26.2 miles is a long, long,
long
way.
