We had been looking for ways to get involved in the community of Rockaway Beach, Oregon, where we have a summer home, and a kazoo band seemed a simple way to do it. In the summer of 1994... | The Rockatooters have become a phenomenon of a sort--in fact, we were featured (well, there was a 2-second shot of us) in a television commercial for Rockaway Beach. In 1995 we learned that we could actually compete in the parade rather than just marching and kazooing. So we entered... and that year and every year since we have won first place. On this webpage I have posted pictures from each year for all to enjoy, and spread a little patriotism around. It has been a "total blast" for me to do this each year. I hope that you will find that patriotism is not only alive in America now, but it can also be a lot of fun! And if you ever happen to be in Rockaway Beach on the Fourth of July, bring your most patriotic clothes, your loudest kazoo, and find a little Americana in small-town America.
