Title: Blue Gender

Genre: Sci-fi/Horror

Creator/Studio: Ryousuke Takahashi/AIC

Distributor: FUNimation

DVD Info: 26 episodes, 8 DVD's

Summary: Yuji is a man with an incurable disease who agrees to be cryogenically frozen in the hopes of waking up to a future with a cure. Unfortunately, he wakes up in hell: a species of giant alien bugs known as the Blue has invaded Earth. He is revived by the members of an attack squad known as Second Earth, whose job it is to destroy the bugs. At first, he is reluctant to fight, but soon realizes he has no choice and joins their side.

The Good: This show is reminiscent of Starship Troopers and the Alien movies. It’s well-written and a great story.

The Bad: At times the show is kind of slow. It’s not the easiest show for late-comers to jump in on.

Offensive Material: This show is very violent and very scary. It is not recommended for young children. Older children could probably watch it without getting nightmares. There are a few rare instances of bad language.

Overall: Not the best choice of cartoons for young children. Cartoon Network was wise to put this on their Adult Swim block. Despite the fact that it’s not a kid-friendly show, I find the show very entertaining.

My Rating: (out of 4): 3.5

Category: C (Caution. Teens only.)Note: FUNimation also has a movie of this called Blue Gender Warrior. Other AIC titles include: Tenchi Muyo, Ah! My Goddess, and Record of Lodoss War
