Genre: Weird
Creator/Studio: Yoshio Sawai/Toei
Company: Viz
DVD Info: 32 episodes, no DVD's at present.
Summary: In the 31st century, a golden Afro-wearing man with whip-like nose hair fights the evil Baldy-bald a bald despot who has decreed that "Everyone Must Be Bald!" (just read it, don't expect it to make sense.)
The Good: Man, can this series blow the mind! It's got a surreal sense of humor. I love the parodies in this show as well. Let's just say there's a lot of crazy stuff in Bobobo's head, and I mean it literally!
The Bad: Ok first off, the name stinks. This is one time I wish the translators came up with a better one. Second, nose hair has to be the most disgusting power I've seen in anime. Third, it's really hard to enjoy a show this nuts.
Offensive Material: The violence is pure slapstick.
Overall: I've finally founda likeable program in the weird genre. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is a great diversion from the norm. Just leave your brain at the door. You won't be needing it.
My review: 2.5 Category: A
Comment: This is based on the Yoshio Sawai manga, published in America by Viz. Founded in 1948, Toei is Japan's oldest anime studio. Its credits include: the Dragonballfranchise, Ultimate Muscle, Sailor Moon, and Zatch Bell.
