Title: Boogiepop Phantom

Genre: Horror

Creator: Konei Kadano

Company: Right Stuf

DVD Info: 12 episodes, 4 DVD's

Summary: 5 years ago, several murders occured at a school in a Japanese town. Now students are disappearing. Have they been taken by the mysterious Boogiepop Phantom?

The Good: This show is creepy! The real charm here is that it earns the chills the old-fashioned way--without overdoing the gore. Wes Craven should take notes. The art style's very nice. I love how they intersperse live-action with animation occassionally.

The Bad: It's kind of hard to follow at times.

Offensive Material: There's some sexual content and demonic possession. Graphic violence and mild language.

Overall: This sure is one creepy tale. If you like scary stuff, check this one out.

My Rating: 3.0 Category: C (Caution. Not recommended for children under 12.)

Note: This series is based on the novels by Kohei Kadano. You can find translations of these novels at this site. Seven Seas Publications is also planning on translating both the manga version and the novels, which will be available in September 2006. Right Stuf also has a live-action version of Boogiepop Phantom as well.
